Pulp & Paper  [ Return towards  Applications ]

Ultraviolet (UV) or Electron Beam (EB) are used to polymerize monomers and oligomers onto a substrate. Advantages from this technology versus thermal drying technology are significant : fast curing times resulting in high productivity, space saving...

Refine your search

using the following 1 or 2 filters (In this case, you can select one or both types of themas)

CO2 based performance increasing of paper machines

Do not hesitate to fully or partly replace your acids (Sulfuric Acid, Alum or SO2) by CO2 : very easy to implement, it will brings you a better pH control, will reduce your corrosion problems under complete safety.

Ozone Bleaching (ECF or TCF pulps)

You aim to decrease your bleaching costs and reduce the consecutive emissions ; ozone is an efficient method, already adopted by more than 20 sites. Ozone is produced from oxygen (LOW or VSA) in the generators. AIR LIQUIDE provides you also a knowledge for the bleaching steps, the recovery and re-use of the oxygen rich off-gas. You profit therefore from a fully integrated solution.

White Liquor Oxidation

Utilization of a white liquor in an oxygen delignification step involves a prior oxidation reaction : Oxygen enables to get a high quality oxidised liquor while minimizing the necessary investment.
Thanks to developments achieved by our researchers teams, highly performant O2 dissolution systems have been performed : they can operate very efficiently with oxygen containing impurities (VSA O2, off-gas coming out of an ozonation process ...)

Lime Kiln Boosting

Your lime kiln is saturated ? Oxygen may help you debottlenecking it and reducing sulfur compounds emission. Air Liquide can help you to implement this technology by specific audits and customized methods for air enrichment.

Oxygen Delignification

This process, now used in more than 150 sites worldwide, allows you to reduce production costs, to decrease slightly your chlorine dioxide an/or hydrogen peroxide needs, to increase the quality of the pulp while reducing considerably the wastes.

Oxygen Boosted Alkaline Extraction (Eo)

Found under forms in the modern industry, this process leads also to reduce the chlorinated reagents needs during the bleaching step. Oxygen is often associated with hydrogen peroxide to ensure a greater reduction of the organochlorinated products (AOX).

Oxygen Enrichment of Recovering Boilers

Your pulp production is limited by a the capacity of your recovery boiler ; Air Liquide and JANSSEN have developed an enrichment technology for the combustion O2 which will let you plan a capacity increasing of 10 to 20 % under complete safety.

Neutralization after Bleaching

CO2 will sharply regulate the pH of the recycled mechanical or chemical pulps after an alkaline bleaching particularly with hydrogen peroxide. Advantages compared with traditionnal acids are the easiness of use, a best pH control, safety of the installations, decreasing in sulfur containing products, etc.

Tall Oil Neutralization

Your Na/S balance is exeeding in sulfur ? Simply replace part of sulfuric acid in your Tall Oil recovery unit by CO2 : this will be achieved in an Air Liquide patented system actually operated in several industrial sites.

Black Liquor Oxidation

In order to reduce the emission of sulfur containing compounds in the atmosphere, black liquors (hard or soft) can be treated with pure oxygen in adapted reactors. A reduction of the calorific capacity can also occurs.
