Oxygen [ Return towards  Standard gases  ]

Present in abundance in the nature, the oxygen represents in weight 21% of the air we breath.

It also represents in weight 46% of the earth's crust (in the form of oxides, of silicates, etc.), 89% of the water present on Earth (under molecular state), and 62% of the human body (under molecular state).

Colorless, odorless and tasteless gas, it is essential in the life and reacts strongly in the presence of numerous chemical substances:

  • in combination with other molecules to manufacture plastics;
  • oxygenation of fish-farming basins;
  • sustainable glass melting;
  • in combination with fuel gas for welding and cutting;
  • in combination with a fuel gas for welding and cutting;
  • stimulation of some installations and valuation of wastes (for the production of chemical specialties and electrical energy);
  • ecological bleaching of the paper pulp;
  • cryogenic combustive for rocket's engines;
  • decarburization of cast iron to produce steel and to enrich the air of blast furnaces;
  • biological purification of the water;
  • the clean incineration of wastes.
