Environmental Issues in Metallurgy [ Return towards  Metallurgy  ]

Air Liquide strengthens the environmental friendliness of the metallurgy industry by etablishing and developing clean technologies!

G. Rosengreen

Environmental issues in metallurgy mainly consist in reducing environmental impacts, preventing environmental pollution, using energy more efficiently, and increasing the value added recycling.

Air Liquide's contribution to the climate challenge for the metallurgy industry is continually focused on the following actions:

  • Expanding the use of clean technologies to minimize the polluants emissions.
  • Developing new oxy-combustion solutions to drastically reduce CO2 and polluant emissions.

Air is used in most parts of industrial combustion as an oxidizing agent. Air Liquide combustion solutions reduce fumes volumes and pollutant emission. This technology improves the thermal yield and heat transfer, reducing fuel consumption. Air Liquide's advanced oxy-combustion technologies for metallurgy industry allows:

  • Significant greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions reduction as Carbon dioxide (CO2), CnHm and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).
  • Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) reduction by up to 90%.
